Broke’N’ Trying to Shine

Where’s true power? In trauma, karma, present thoughts or feelings strong enough to overcome it all? Belief in a lie strong enough to seal fate like a coffin?
Sometimes you can’t tell if your luck’s running good or bad.
Ever feel your mind racing, heart pounding like danger’s sneaking up behind you? My Auntie once told me, “Remember who you never wanted to be.”
Being a good man is a prize-but you can’t be broke and a luxury at the same time.
For the laymen-always busy, hardworking, sacrificing. While your family zones-out with their favorite fun things or work without you in mind. Oblivious until they need something, then you have to stop what you're doing like you're committing a crime.
That means, being a good, trying man never feels like enough when you’re financially struggling.
When’s the last time your family stopped their distractions, focused on you, and asked: How are you doing? How was your day? What’s going on with you? Is there anything you need?
Or gave a little extra attention, even if it seemed annoying. Used some of their precious free time to breathe with you, reveal scars and help heal wounds.
It’s hard to see clearly when love don’t love here. Only smiling for the children. Speaking like the ratchets because they make drama attractive.
There’s a reason they’re alone.
Therapy is being honest. It’s learning not to hurt the one you want to get even with. It’s explaining your pain with a gangster’s kindness.
It always takes two. That means putting ego aside and coming together. Understanding that you are both, and at certain times, need to be individuals.
No one achieves personal success without the discipline and habit of healthy selfishness.
Unhealthy selfishness is knowing your needs aren’t being met and “stonewalling” someone until they fall apart. That'll make them jump into someone else’s arms, push you off, or both
In a relationship, you learn to know each other deeply. But you’ll always know yourself better.
Don’t allow lazy comfort to stop you from knowing and growing yourself and your relationship.
